Jake Wadsley retired in 2022 after 22 years in the Submarine Force.  Jake was born in Iowa, where he grew up with his parents and two siblings.  In college Jake was called to ministry in the submarine force, where God does not maintain a professional clergy presence.  Jake was commissioned into the Navy and served on four submarines, culminating in command of USS NEBRASKA.

Jake currently serves at a Christian non-profit SIL Global (Bible translation teammates with Wycliffe, Biblica, and JAARS) as the Director for Capability Innovation. In this role, Jake is responsible for leading the effort to develop and incubate new capabilities in support of SIL’s mission. He helps manage scouting for new capabilities, stakeholder engagement, designing new capabilities, and integrating capabilities into the organization. His portfolio includes helping SIL develop capabilities such as Artificial Intelligence, Recruiting and Mobilization, and Field Testing.

Jake was blessed to become aware of Hope Anew in 2024 and honored to contribute in some small way to the beautiful ministry of outreach and support to families impacted by disabilities and special needs.  Empathy and experience for this mission come from Jake’s sister, wife, and daughters.  Jake’s wife Katie is by far the stronger contribution to Hope Anew with her direct autism spectrum care experience, guide dog training, keeping Jake mostly out of trouble, practice identifying allergies and food sensitivities, adapting recipes, adapting clothing for sensory issues, and generally being amazing.
